Cades Cove Vehicle Free Days

“Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers Cades Cove Vehicle-Free Days every Wednesday from May 6 to Sept. 30. These designated days give pedestrians and cyclists an opportunity to experience the 11-mile Cades Cove Loop Road without motor vehicles.

Thinks to Know for Vehicle-Free Day:
– Vehicle-Free Days are popular and parking is limited. Please park only in designated spots to protect pedestrians, cyclists and roadside ecosystems.

– Remember to purchase a parking tag online, at the Great Smoky Mountains Welcome Center in Townsend or at fee kiosks at the Townsend Wye or Cades Cove before parking.

– Avoid the morning rush by arriving in the afternoon. If there is no parking available in the morning, you will need to leave and return later. The park may ticket or tow illegally parked vehicles.

– Only bikes (including Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes) are allowed. No scooters, skateboards or other non-motorized vehicles are permitted. Wear a helmet if you are biking, and follow the posted 20 mile per hour speed limit.

– Come prepared. The Cades Cove Loop Road has lots of hills and little tree cover. Pack plenty of snacks, water and a first aid kit. There is no cell service, so plan accordingly. Cyclists should bring a toolkit that includes spare inner tubes, pumps, tire levers and a multi-tool.

– Weather can also be unpredictable, so pack a rain jacket and dress appropriately for the temperature.”

Gatlinburg River Raft Regatta

“Gatlinburg’s most-nail biting race of the summer returns! Set against the backdrop of Gatlinburg’s fun-filled Fourth of July celebration, comes the ever-competitive River Raft Regatta, an annual race of unmanned floatables down the Little Pigeon River.

All contestants will begin the day at the race’s starting line at Edgewater Hotel & Conference Center, beginning at 11 AM to register their floatable. The race kicks off at 1 PM and ends after all floatables have crossed the finish line at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies plaza.

Eventgoers can opt to enter a rented rubber duck into the competition (or bring your own decorated boat in whimsical or traditional décor at no cost) for $2 or 3 for $5 onsite. Winterfest Wonders of Light Walking Trail
Pigeon Forge Winterfest keeps getting bigger and brighter! When the city-wide festival begins on November 6, visitors will get to experience the Winterfest Wonders of Light Walking Trail. In all, more than one million LED lights were added to the city’s Winterfest displays.

Winterfest Kickoff
The Winterfest Kickoff event takes place on Nov. 6 in the city’s Patriot Park (186 Old Mill Ave.), beginning at 3:15 p.m. The festivities will conclude with the activation of six million lights throughout the city. Performances by the Pigeon Forge High School Choir, Carl Wayne Meekins and Bryson quick will precede the presentation of colors by the Veterans Military Honor Guard of Pigeon Forge. Following this presentation, 101st Airborne U.S. Army Band will perform. The Pigeon Forge Veterans Tribute will conclude with a special patriotic fireworks display. All Winterfest kickoff event entertainment is free. Free parking is available in the city’s Municipal and Mountain parking lots located just off Teaster Lane. Special Winterfest attractions, like Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland (November 21, 2025 – January 4, 2026), add to the excitement. This drive through LED light and music experience is considered one of the most immersive drive-through Christmas experiences on Earth. * Kyker’s Farm Corn Maze
September 27th – October 30th
